The Bilkent University Board of Trustees met last week on Thursday, February 22. Present at the meeting were Vice Chairs Gülsev Kale and Ergül Tunçbilek, Board members Erol Arkun, İlker Baybars, Ali Karaosmanoğlu, Yahya Laleli, Ahmet Nalbur, Şencan Özme, Muhsin Saraçlar, Boğaç Üner and Kadriye Yurdakök, and Rector Abdullah Atalar.
Items on the agenda for discussion by the Board included a number of proposals that had been put forward by the University Senate.
The Board reviewed and approved the Senate’s proposal regarding some changes to the UMRAM regulations.
Proposals by the Senate with respect to some changes in the university’s undergraduate transfer regulations and in the regulations for undergraduate minors and double majors were also discussed and approved.
The Board in addition reviewed and approved changes in the English Language Preparatory Program rules and regulations concerning the exam rights of students who are dismissed from the program due to expiration of the maximum allowed duration of study.
Also reviewed and approved was the establishment of new integrated PhD programs in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, MSN, Physics, and Molecular Biology and Genetics in the Graduate School of Engineering and Science.
Following discussion of the above, the Board set the tuition rates for the 2018-2019 academic year.
The tuition fee will be 34,960 TL for students admitted in or before 2015, and 37,120 TL for those admitted during or after 2016.
The tuition fee will be $13,950 for all students from abroad admitted in or before 2015, and $14,500 for those admitted during or after 2016. These fees include 8 percent VAT.
