The Bilkent Symphony Orchestra celebrated the New Year in advance, with special concerts held on December 19 and 20 at the Bilkent Concert Hall. The orchestra performed a program of waltzes, polkas, jazz and dance music by Johann Strauss II, George Gershwin and Duke Ellington, under the direction of maestro Dorian Wilson.
The orchestra has two performances remaining in 2014. On December 24, the BSO will host the Boğaziçi Jazz Choir. On December 29, composer and pianist Fazıl Say will join the orchestra, along with Nusret İspir on clarinet and Stefan Sanderling as conductor. Both concerts are sold out.
Music lovers should not despair, however. There are many more concerts to come this winter, as the BSO continues its schedule of performances in 2015.
