On September 25, a signing ceremony for a cooperation agreement between the Bilkent University Department of Tourism and Hotel Management and Sabre Türkiye took place in İstanbul. The agreement initiates a collaborative venture on the part of Sabre and the department. Attendees at the ceremony included Asst. Prof. Eda Gürel, acting chair of the department, representing Bilkent; and, representing Sabre, Stephan Wippermann, vice president for international sales, Central and Eastern Europe, Altuğ Bekdemir, general manager of Sabre Türkiye, and Tevfik Seçilmiş, marketing manager for Sabre Türkiye; along with a number of guests from the travel and tourism industry.
The collaboration will make it possible to offer a course to train Bilkent students in the Sabre booking and ticketing system. Students who complete the course successfully will receive a certificate.
Sabre, best known for its pioneering airline reservation system, is today an international travel technology company that provides “future-focused IT solutions” for the travel and tourism industry, from applications to “high-performance environments” that support the airline and hospitality industries around the world.
