On October 7, the Department of Communication and Design became an accredited member of the International Association of Film and Television Schools (CILECT).
The department was elected to full membership during the 2019 CILECT Congress. The event was held at the Russian State University of Cinematography (VGIK) in Moscow, in honor of the 100th anniversary of the VGIK, the world’s oldest film school. Two hundred delegates from 102 member universities on five continents attended this year’s congress.
CILECT was founded in Cannes, France, in 1954; by 2017 the organization included more than 180 audiovisual educational institutions in 65 countries. CILECT defines its mission as “developing and promoting the highest standards of education, research and training for film, television and related media through establishing and organizing global and regional forums for the exchange of artistic, pedagogical, methodological and managerial best practices for all its members.”
