Last week, T2 Software, a company based at Bilkent Cyberpark, served as the organizer of a software development competition called the Big Data Hackathon. Winners of the competition included two Bilkent Computer Engineering (CS) students.
During the Hackathon, which went on nonstop for 24 hours, approximately 200 university students worked to develop innovative software projects and coding techniques related to “big data.” Awards were given to the top three competitors in both the project development and coding categories. CS students Alim Şükrücan Gökkaya and Ahmet Enis Erdoğan took first and second place respectively in the coding category.
The Hackathon was envisioned as a way to promote industry-university cooperation, and the closing ceremony brought together the representatives of several sectors to present the awards to the winning students: T. C. Prime Ministry Press and Information Assistant General Manager Erkan Durdu; the general manager of Bilkent Cyberpark, Canan Çakmakçı; Dr. Buğra Gedik of Bilkent’s Department of Computer Engineering; and Kerem Çağlar, a partner in Solveka Software.
Entrepreneurs, senior managers and students had a chance to talk and mingle at a reception held to conclude the event.
