A team from Bilkent took second place in the recent “Code Kobi” hackathon organized and sponsored by Akbank. CTIS students Berk Kaya, Zekeriya Kosova, Mehmet Ali Saraç and Fatih Yavuz were among 34 teams to compete in the event, which took place over a 48-hour period.
The participants were asked to solve problems that small and medium-sized enterprises in Turkey often encounter, as set out by a task crew consisting of owners of such enterprises.
The Bilkent team, using the Akbank APIs, developed one of the more complex projects in the event, which covered areas from location-based market share and pricing analysis to fiscal period-based financial analysis. This was the first time the team had taken part in a hackathon; members declared that they found it both instructive and exciting, as well as an excellent opportunity to meet people in the private sector working in fields related to the “Code Kobi” topics.
