Prof. Ece Göztepe, Dean of the Law Faculty, has been awarded the Fritz-Thyssen-Foundation Special Prize for social science articles published in 2021. Her award-winning work, “Über die Verteidigung der Demokratie und Rechtsstaatlichkeit in der Türkei” (on the Defense of Democracy and the Rule of Law in Turkey), was published in Zeitschrift für Politik 3/2021.

The jury pointed out that “the article was awarded due to its exceptional social relevance and topicality.” The Fritz-Thyssen-Foundation prize for essays in the social sciences is the only journal prize in the social sciences outside of the English-speaking area.
