Department of Economics senior student Eren Soydal was a recipient of two first-place awards at the seventh Career Workshop held by the Industrial Development Bank of Turkey (TSKB), which took place April 14-16 in İstanbul.
This annual event is the country’s only recruitment workshop in the area of development and investment banking, offering a real-life experience in banking for university students who are interested in becoming management trainees at TSKB.
The theme for this year’s TSKB Career Workshop was “Revealing the Difference.” The event hosted 51 senior and graduate students from economics, finance and industrial engineering departments of universities offering foreign language-medium education.
Students had the opportunity to work one-on-one with TSKB managers and learn from their mentors about the dynamics of business life at the bank. Participants also worked as teams to develop sustainable investment projects with promise for real-life applicability.
In two case study contests held during the workshop, Eren collaborated with colleagues from other disciplines, bringing together global issues related to economics and finance. Offering a different viewpoint and a broad perspective on sustainable investment, his contribution helped ensure a first-place award for his team in both contests. These results make Eren a top candidate for the bank’s management traineeship program.
