EE PhD Graduate Receives Newton International Fellowship
Dr. Talha Erdem, a recent Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering PhD graduate and member of Prof. Hilmi Volkan Demir’s Quantum Devices and Sensors Research Group, has been awarded a Newton International Fellowship. On this basis, he will be continuing his research in the Cavendish Laboratory at the University of Cambridge in the UK.
Under the PhD supervision of Prof. Demir (Departments of EE and PHYS, and UNAM), Dr. Erdem has worked on the colloidal nanocyrstal systems in color conversion for quality lighting and color enrichment in electronic displays and developed the color science of discreet sharp nanoemitters at UNAM. At Cambridge, Dr. Erdem will work on the DNA-driven self-assembly of colloidal nanocrystals and on controlling the optical features of these self-assembled superlattices in real time. The international fellowship initiative is supported by the Royal Academy of Science and the British Academy and aims to improve UK relations in the area of research and innovation for the sustainable growth and welfare of partner countries, one of which is Turkey.
