Can Bayram, a 2005 graduate of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, has received an AFOSR Young Investigator Research Award to develop energy conversion devices.
Dr. Bayram, an assistant professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, has been doing research focused on developing novel photonic and electronic devices, including next-generation energy conversion devices.
With the $360,000 in AFOSR (US Air Force Office of Scientific Research) support to be spread over three years, Dr. Bayram will explore novel integration schemes to further enhance the performance of compound semiconductor-based energy conversion devices while maintaining scalability and adaptability for industrial applications.
The AFOSR Young Investigator award program focuses on promoting the early career development of outstanding scientists who have received their PhD in the last five years.
