This week, on Thursday, February 19, the Library will launch a new project called the Student Seminar Series. The idea is to provide a forum for Bilkent students, both undergraduate and graduate, to present aspects of their work and interests outside the official context of the university departments.
The work may be of an academic nature or something more artistic, depending on the specialty of the particular student. It should, however, be original work, and may have been undertaken as part of a course at Bilkent, such as a senior project or HIST 200, or have arisen from independent study. Seminars may be offered by individual students or by groups of two or more. Students interested in presenting a seminar should contact librarian Hande Uçartürk via hucar@bilkent.edu.tr.
The first seminar will be given on Thursday by Mert Önal (AMER) and will be entitled “How the American Dream Turned Into a Nightmare: The Case of Income Inequality in the United States.” Mert’s seminar will take place in the Main Campus Library Art Gallery and will begin at 12:40 p.m. Refreshments will be provided.
