Last week, on November 11, the Library hosted the first session of a new activity series called Multicultural Moments in the Library. Co-hosted with the Office of International Students and Exchange Programs, the new series of meetings provides Bilkent students with an opportunity to get together and share with others information about the culture and traditions of their home region, whether a part of Turkey or another country. This can include performing regional music or dance, or offering samples of local foods.
The first session was organized by student Amir Mohsen Ahmadi (Prep program), who is from Iran and gave a talk entitled “Re-Familiarity With Iran.” During the session, Amir talked about his country and shared examples of Iranian art and music, while participants had a chance to try the delicious Iranian dessert sholeh-zard. Many students attended the meeting and asked questions at the end.
The series will continue next month, and we hope that participants will feel more multiculturally aware after attending these meetings!
