Bengü Eda Kılıçer, a second-year student in the Department of Graphic Design, has been selected to participate in the Lift-Off Global Network’s First-Time Filmmakers Showcase. Bengü, who took the GRA351 Introduction to Video Production Techniques I course last semester, was chosen for the event on the basis of her short film “Time to Stop.”

The First-Time Filmmakers Showcase takes place quarterly at Pinewood Studios in the UK; the purpose of the day-long event is to provide a platform and guidance for emerging talent from around the world.

Activities include multiple demonstrations from industry experts as well as screenings of the short films selected for the showcase. Following the screenings, filmmakers receive feedback from their peers and Lift-Off’s judges in group and one-to-one sessions. Organizers note that the event has the potential to serve as a launch pad for the participants by offering them the opportunity to win further screenings at Lift-Off’s international film festivals.
