IMG_3503 (300 x 225)For the next several weeks, a “green store” on campus will be offering the Bilkent community a more sustainable way to shop. Located in front of the Table d’Hote restaurant, the store is now open for business and will remain open until May 9.

The temporary retail outlet was designed by Bilkent University students as part of a nationwide competition sponsored by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and Unilever Turkey. In Project Green Store, teams from a number of universities around the country compete by selling goods in their own self-designed, self-built and self-managed green stores on their respective campuses. This is the second year the event has taken place.

All of the sales revenue from the products sold will return to Bilkent University students as scholarships. Green Store Bilkent representatives urge everyone to come to the store to shop sustainably; you will not only be helping our team do well in the competition, but also helping the planet and at the same time contributing to scholarship funds at our university.

There is now a “green store” on campus, offering the Bilkent community a more sustainable way to shop. Located in the former Garanti Bank space in G Building, the store opened on March 23 and will remain open for two months, until the end of May.

The new retail outlet was designed by five Bilkent University students, Can Cicioğlu(IE/III), Çağla Örüç (IE/IV), Batu Ülkü (IE/III), İdil Deniz Selçuk (IE/III) and Serhan Bayram (IE/III), as part of a nationwide competition, Project Green Store.

In Project Green Store, teams from a number of universities in Turkey are competing by selling goods in their own self-designed, self-built and self-managed green stores on their respective campuses.

Green Store Bilkent was designed in collaboration with WWF (World Wildlife Fund) as a planet-friendly retail store. Be ready to be amazed by the eco-friendly solutions to today’s shopping habits; the most commonly used waste materials have been recycled into amazing furniture, and you might even find a solar panel installed outside, generating the energy needed in the store!

For two months, the store will be selling Unilever products that are donated by the company. All of the sales revenue will return to Bilkent University students as scholarships. Green Store Bilkent representatives urge everyone to come to the store to shop sustainably; you will not only be helping our team do well in the competition, but also helping the planet and at the same time contributing to scholarship funds at our university.
