Dr. Hamza Yeşilyurt, an assistant professor in the Department of Mathematics, has won the 2014 Sedat Simavi Foundation Science Award for his work “Elementary Proofs of Some Identities of Ramanujan for the Rogers-Ramanujan Functions,” published in the Journal of Mathematical Analysis and Applications (Volume 388, Issue 1, 1 April 2012).

The Sedat Simavi Science Award was established in 1977 by the Turkish Journalists Society. The award is named after the founder of the society, and is given to individuals who have made significant contributions to areas in the natural sciences.

Dr. Yeşilyurt received his doctorate from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2004 and joined the Bilkent University faculty in 2007.
