Prof. Hasan Şahin, a 2012 PhD graduate of the Materials Science and Nanotechnology graduate program, has received the 2021 Sedat Simavi Foundation Tribute Award in the field of science for his work “Raman and Optical Characteristics of van der Waals Heterostructures of Single Layers of GaP and GaSe: A First-Principles Study,” published in the journal Inorganic Chemistry Frontiers (Issue 11, 2021).
The Sedat Simavi Science Award was established in 1977 by the Turkish Journalists Society. The award is named after the founder of the society, and is given to individuals who have made significant contributions to areas in the natural sciences.
Prof. Şahin is a faculty member in the Department of Photonics at the İzmir Institute of Technology.
