Feyza Güliz Şahinyazan (IE BSc ’10 and MSc ’12) has received a second place award for her entry in the “Doing Good with Good Operations Research” student paper competition. The award was presented during the Institute for Operations Research and Management Science (INFORMS) annual meeting held in San Francisco this month.
The Doing Good with Good OR competition is held each year to identify and honor outstanding projects in the fields of operations research and the management sciences conducted by a student or student group that have a significant societal impact. The paper for which Ms. Şahinyazan received her award was part of her master’s thesis, supervised by professors Bahar Y. Kara and Mehmet R. Taner. The thesis presented a design for an efficient mobile blood collection system for the Turkish Red Crescent.
