February 25, 2022, marks the twelfth year since the loss of Bilkent University’s beloved founder, Prof. İhsan Doğramacı. On that day, a number of events will be held on campus and online to commemorate the anniversary of Prof. Doğramacı’s passing.
First, a “Commemoration of İhsan Doğramacı on the 12th Anniversary of His Passing,” organized by the İhsan Doğramacı Erbil Foundation, is scheduled to take place online at 11:40 a.m. This will be a panel discussion, in Turkish; panelists are Dr. Rasim Özyürek, education and training coordinator at the İhsan Doğramacı Erbil Foundation; Prof. Abide Doğan, faculty member in the Department of Turkish Language and Literature at Hacettepe University; Prof. Zeynep Korkmaz, former acting chair of YÖK; Prof. Enver Hasanoğlu, president of the International Pediatric Association; Prof. Tezer Kutluk, member of the Faculty of Medicine at Hacettepe University; and Prof. Gülsev Kale, chair of the Bilkent University Board of Trustees. Introductory remarks will be given by Assoc. Prof. Fatma Taşkın, vice president of the Bilkent University Board of Trustees. In the evening, the Bilkent Symphony Orchestra, led by conductor Gürer Aykal, will give a concert in memory of Prof. Doğramacı, to take place at 8 p.m. in the Bilkent Concert Hall. The program will feature Vivaldi’s Concerto for Two Violins, with soloists Yevgeniy Kostrytskyy and Irina Nikotina; two Vivaldi concertos for mandolin, with soloist Bülent Yazıcı; and Mozart’s Symphony No. 34.
