The 9th International Turkish Language Assembly was held at Bilkent University last week. Representatives from a number of countries met September 26 to discuss developments and new findings concerning the Turkish language.
The assembly opened with speeches by Asst. Prof. Rasim Özyürek, director of Bilkent University’s Training Programs for Regional Countries; Dr. Shadan J. Abbas of Salahaddin University; Ahmad Anwar Dezaye, rector of Salahaddin University; and Prof. Ali Doğramacı, chairman of the Bilkent University Board of Trustees.
Scholars from Turkey and elsewhere took part in sessions addressing a wide variety of topics, including “Current Problems Faced by Turkish,” “Usage of Popular Language to Enrich Turkish” and “The Turkish Language Today and in the Future.”
