The Physical Education and Sports Center will be holding two separate “Sports as a Way of Life” challenge events over the coming weeks. The Swim Challenge begins today, March 27, and will run through April 29 (for men) or May 6 (for women). The four-week Fitness Challenge kicks off on April 2, and will run through April 29.
Swim Challenge
The Spring Swim Challenge will take place at the university swimming pool and is open to all students. Participants are to swim a minimum of half an hour at least two times and at most five times per week during the challenge period. They will get 5 Swim Challenge points each time they swim. Swimmers should inform the lifeguard they are participating in the challenge each time that they come to the pool.
Students taking GE250-251 who collect points in the challenge will also receive points for the course as follows: 30 GE points for 60 Swim Challenge points; 40 GE points for 80 Swim Challenge points; 50 GE points for 100 Swim Challenge points; and 60 GE points for 120 Swim Challenge points.
At the conclusion of the challenge, a reception will be held at which participants who have collected 120 or more Swim Challenge points will receive Sports as a Way of Life t-shirts and the top finishers in each category (men’s and women’s) will get special prizes.

Fitness Challenge
The Spring Fitness Challenge will be held at the Dormitories Sports Hall and is open to all students. Participants are to work out at least two times and at most five times per week; they can do, at most, two different activities in one day, and will get 5 points for each activity each day that it is done.
Students taking GE250-251 who collect points in the challenge will also receive points for the course as follows: 30 GE points for 60 Fitness Challenge points; 40 GE points for 80 Fitness Challenge points; 50 GE points for 100 Fitness Challenge points; and 60 GE points for 120 Fitness Challenge points.

Cycling (30 minutes)
Rowing (30 minutes)
Stepper (15 minutes) and cycling
(15 minutes)
Rowing (15 minutes) and cycling
(15 minutes)
Cross-training (30 minutes)
Treadmill running (30 minutes)
One set of strength training station exercises
