Assoc. Prof. Ece Göztepe Çelebi, a member of the Faculty of Law, has been awarded research project funding by Stiftung Mercator, the largest private foundation in Germany.

The project, entitled “Constitutional Politics in Turkey,” received funding amounting to 300,000 euros. Dr. Göztepe Çelebi is conducting the project jointly with Prof. Silvia von Steinsdorff, who chairs the Department for Comparative Democracy Research and Political Systems in Eastern Europe at Humboldt University in Berlin.

The project aims to conduct interdisciplinary research on constitutional politics in Turkey with contributions from experienced scholars from all over the world, as well as graduate students who are working on a PhD thesis with a Turkey-related topic. Graduate students in Turkey and in Germany will be offered an opportunity to conduct research in both countries for a certain period of time. A call for applications for this opportunity will be made this month.
