Department of Law graduate Onur Bilgiç (’10) has recently published his first book, entitled “Unutulmaz Rekabetler.” A 190-page book from Murat Yayınları, it tells the stories of 20 “unforgettable” rivalries in nine sports: football, basketball, tennis, cricket, boxing, ice hockey, water polo, baseball and track and field.

In the prologue, the author says, “In this book I wanted to underline the fact that sports doesn’t mean just sports. You will learn about the effect of an ice hockey game on the Prague Spring, the connection between the Spanish Civil War and El Clásico, the way a commercial led to friendship between Larry Bird and Magic Johnson, and the stories of many other famous rivalries.”

In addition to his career in law, Onur Bilgiç is a sportswriter at Basketfaul and Futbol Extra magazines.
