On Wednesday, November 9, a new exhibition opened at the Library Art Gallery. Featuring paintings by Birsen Selahi, the exhibition is open every day between 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m.
A graduate of Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, the artist has held many individual shows and contributed to over 200 group exhibitions. She also designed stage props and costumes for Turkish state theaters for 35 years and is a winner of the Atatürk Grand Prize.
Speaking about her work, Ms. Selahi said that her late mother and medieval murals were her greatest inspirations. Indeed, “her mother’s wardrobe” as she noted, and her fresco-influenced style can be observed in her paintings. Musicians, nature and much more are also depicted in the works displayed in the exhibition, which will remain open through December 13.
