Each semester brings new possibilities for making new friends, especially at Bilkent, which has a very big campus and lots of social activities. However, it is in fact quite possible for you to choose to become a loner. The question is, how will you enjoy the Bilkent campus all alone? Well, here are some activities for loners to enjoy by themselves:

Dancing in empty classrooms

This activity is perfect for energetic but lonely people who are searching for a way to channel their energy into dance. I highly recommend that you find an empty classroom, especially at break time, because otherwise it’s quite possible that you’ll get caught and be embarrassed about what you’re doing.

Reading books upside down

This one is for less energetic people who may or may not be interested in books. However, for this activity you need to sit next to someone. Just act naturally and read your book upside down and try to observe the person who’s sitting next to you without making eye contact. The fun part is seeing people’s reactions; the sad part is that it’s quite possible no one will pay any attention to you.

Enjoying the view

This activity requires you to burn some calories. If you’re a fan of your calories, you can pass on this option. Well, first you need to find the tallest building on campus. According to my research, this is the Engineering Building. You can use the stairs to reach the top level. Then, just enjoy the view from a window up there, and try not to look like a weirdo.

Calling yourself

Because you’re a loner, you probably only get texts from your phone service provider, or ones from your mom that say, “Don’t forget to buy milk.” To look like a social person and at the same time remain a loner, you can call yourself from a crowded place on campus. Just act like you’re dialing a number, and then talk with yourself. What would you say to yourself if you could become someone other than you? Now is the time for you to find out. (Don’t forget to call yourself by name while you’re on the phone.)

I can almost hear you saying, “Yeah, whatever,” but just wait—the next semester can be really different from previous ones with the help of this guide. If you really believe in yourself and are brave enough to do all these activities, by the time you’ve finished you’ll have been quite well entertained. Of course you can do any of these things with a friend, too, but either way, try to avoid attracting too much attention.
