With the opening of the 2017-2018 academic year, Bilkent University graduate Gizem Yalçın received the Professor G. W. J. Bruins Prize, given annually by Erasmus University Rotterdam to recognize outstanding academic performance and research abilities. The prize was presented at a ceremony that took place on September 4. Ms. Yalçın is the first student from a business school to be selected for this award.

After completing her undergraduate studies in the Department of Management at Bilkent, and also minoring in psychology, Ms. Yalçın went on to graduate studies at Erasmus University’s Rotterdam School of Management (RSM) as a participant in the Research Master in Business and Management program of the Erasmus Research Institute of Management (ERIM), with a specialization in marketing.

Having graduated cum laude, she is currently a first-year doctoral candidate at ERIM, ranked among the top three management research centers in Europe. Her particular area of study is consumer behavior, with an interest in the concept of restriction and how it affects the way consumers think and behave.

During her graduate studies so far, Ms. Yalçın has received several grants, including one from the European Institute of Advanced Studies in Management (2016) and the ERIM Achievement Grant (2015).
