BLIS will be hosting “Red Nose Night,” an evening of Turkish comedy to benefit the Comic Relief charities. Four comedians from “Gri Şehir” will offer two hours of stand-up entertainment. The event will take place at the BLIS Performance Hall on Friday, March 24, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets will cost 30 TL, with all proceeds going to charity. Multilingual Poetry Reading to Mark World Poetry Day at Bilkent
On Tuesday, March 21, the Bilkent Literature Society will celebrate World Poetry Day with a very out-of-the-ordinary poetry reading. The participants are to include ambassadors from 13 nations, who will read poems in their own languages, from Sinhalese to Tajik, and talk about their cultures.
The event, which will take place at 5:45 p.m. in room EE-01, is being presented in memory of the late Prof. Talat Halman, founding chairman of the Department of Turkish Literature at Bilkent and a renowned translator of poetry as well as a noted poet in his own right.
At the event, programs including translations of the poems to be read will be provided, and tea will be served. Students taking GE250-251 will receive points for attending.
