Prof. Devrim Pesen Okvur, a 1999 graduate of the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, has been named a “Deep Tech Pioneer” in the Hello Tomorrow Challenge competition. She received the title for her work with Initio, a biomedical company she founded in Teknoparkizmir.
The Hello Tomorrow Challenge is a worldwide startup competition for early-stage science and high-technology entrepreneurial ventures. The Initio Biomedical Engineering Consultancy, Industry and Trade Limited Company was one of 750 enterprises selected from among more than 5,000 applicants from 128 countries in this, the sixth Hello Tomorrow Challenge.
As a consequence of her company’s success in the challenge, Prof. Okvur will participate in the 2020 Hello Tomorrow Global Summit, where investors, industry leaders, science and technology change-makers, and members of the international media will meet. The event is scheduled to take place in Paris next month.
