Dear Bilkent Students,
We have finalized a very busy election process, which took place in a democratic environment. As a result of the election and with the support of all our department representatives, we have succeeded in reestablishing the Student Council. As president of the Council, I would like to thank all of the representatives, who did not spare their efforts, and to all of you, the valued students of our university. We have started our work keenly aware of the many things that need to be done due to the lack of a student council for the last five years. During the meeting that we had with Rector Abdullah Atalar, we presented our views regarding the projects we have planned for the welfare of both our university and our fellow students. I would like to share these plans as well as the decisions that were made during the meeting.
First, with the help of the university administration, we have already started work to make the Student Council building into a place where you, our fellow students, can better carry out your educational, social, cultural and artistic activities. We are thus going to open up the ground floor of the Student Council building to your use for such activities.
In addition to this major project, we are also planning to serve you in the social, academic and cultural arenas by organizing a number of activities. These will include the “Winter Festival” (social), “Political Awareness Week” (academic) and a “Festival of World Cultures” (cultural). To obtain more detailed information about these activities, along with many others not specified here, please accept our cordial invitation to attend an introductory meeting on December 20 at 5:40 p.m. in Mithat Çoruh Auditorium.
Sincerely,
İlkercan Özgür
Student Council President
