A new production staged by Department of Performing Arts students as their graduation project will premiere on December 7 in the Bilkent Chamber Theater.
The three-act play, which will run through December 22, is a Turkish translation of English playwright John Osborne’s “Look Back in Anger.” The title of the translated version is “Öfke.”
“Look Back in Anger” (1956) is a realist play focusing on the life and marital struggles of an intelligent but disaffected young man of working-class origin, Jimmy Porter, and his upper-middle-class wife Alison. The supporting characters include Cliff Lewis, an amiable Welsh lodger who attempts to keep the peace, and Helena Charles, Alison’s snobbish friend.
“Öfke” is directed by Cem Emüler, with costume design by Selvi Şaşmaz, set design by Hazal Yalım and lighting design by Yılmaz Ertekin. Cast members are Naz Göktan, Melisa Berberoğlu, Ahmet Kılıç and Berk Göksel.
Performances will take place on December 7, 8, 12, 14, 19, 21 and 22 at 8 p.m. in the Bilkent Chamber Theater.
