At the beginning of the semester, Radio Bilkent invited newcomers to become a part of the station family. In return, applications flooded in – so many that all of the station’s units now have the opportunity to enlarge their staffs with well-qualified volunteers.
As the next step in the process of bringing new staff members on board, applicants are called for interviews. Successful candidates then undergo training; each unit has its own training schedule and program. Broadcasting trainees, for example, take a special elocution course given by Radio Bilkent mentor and former TRT announcer Mehpare Çelik.
Other units’ training programs are conducted by students who serve as training supervisors. They are able to provide a wealth of information about the dynamics of their respective units and teach the newcomers about basic operational procedures.
Students who successfully complete their training will join the staff as interns and attend a meeting where the vision and operation of the station as a whole will be discussed. They will then begin their duties at Radio Bilkent, marking a new chapter in the station’s story.
