A Bilkent production of the French play “Le Prénom,” in Turkish translation, premiered on March 31 in the Faculty of Music and Performing Arts Theater Hall.
Directed by Işıl Kasapoğlu, the play is being staged by Department of Performing Arts students as a senior project. Remaining performances will take place on April 7, 14, 21 and 28, all starting at 8 p.m. in the FMPA Theater Hall.Authored by Mathieu Delaporte and Alexandre de La Patelliere, and translated by Zeynep Su Kasapoğlu, “Le Prénom” is set in an apartment in Paris. A dinner at the apartment is attended by a real estate agent, a professor, a teacher, a fashion designer and a trombonist. Among the topics of conversation are a child that is to be born and the unusual name that is to be given the child. Contradictory ideas, misunderstandings, inopportune revelations of vulnerability and constantly rising tension ensue. Will the dinner end as it started?
Cast members are Doğuş Bilgin, Eyşan Dönmez, M. Doğukan Güllüpınar, Seda Soysal and Yağmur Elif Seber. Set design is by Özlem Gezgin, with lighting by Yılmaz Ertekin.
