Last week, the Department of Political Science and Public Administration hosted a one-day workshop for PhD students. Titled “Historicizing Concepts? On the Use and Function of Concepts in the Social Sciences,” the workshop brought together seven PhD candidates from the Department of International Relations and the Department of Political Science and Public Administration to discuss papers drawn from their research.
The idea for the workshop was devised by two guest scholars, Filipe dos Reis (University of Erfurt) and Dr. Zeynep Gülşah Çapan (Bilgi University). Dr. Çapan had previously spent time at Bilkent University as a postdoctoral scholar. Filipe dos Reis is an Erasmus Teaching Staff Mobility (TSM) visitor who, as part of his week-long visit, also gave a POLSTALKS seminar on March 7 on “The Disciplines of Boundaries and the Boundaries of Disciplines: (International) Politics, (International) Law and the Use of (Inter-) Disciplinarity.”
