On October 5, at the International İstanbul Congress of the International Federation on Ageing (IFA), Prof. Talât Halman, dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Letters, was given the “Distinguished Senior Citizen” award by Türkiye Yaşlılık Konseyi Derneği (TÜRYAK Seniors Council Association).
This award is presented to senior citizens in recognition of their professional achievements, international status, leadership, contributions to society and exemplary character. A previous recipient of the award (in 2007) was the late Bilkent founder, board chairman and president, Prof. İhsan Doğramacı.
