Bilkent University has been named as the top-ranking university in Turkey in the QS Graduate Employability Rankings, released on November 26 during the QS Young Universities Forum in Melbourne.

The new Graduate Employability Rankings are a pilot initiative. For this, the first edition of the rankings, over 44,000 survey responses were analyzed, 1,239 universities considered and 723 evaluated.

The methodology differs from that found in the global rankings, using different indicators and changing the weighting of existing indicators. The indicators fall into five categories. The most heavily weighted of these is employer reputation (30%), based on a survey of employers asking them which universities’ graduates they would prefer to hire. They were asked to name ten local and 30 international universities. The other indicators are: partnerships with employers (25%); alumni outcomes (20%); employers’ presence on campus (15%); and graduate employment rate (10%).

Among the 723 universities evaluated, Bilkent ranked in the 151-200 band overall. It placed highest in the categories of employers’ presence (102nd) and partnerships with employers (130th).

In addition to its top placement among Turkish universities in the Graduate Employability Rankings, Bilkent is also Turkey’s highest-ranked university in the newly released QS “Top 50 Under 50” listing for 2015. Based on the latest QS World University Rankings, this ranking of universities less than 50 years old places Bilkent in the 51-60 band.
