On April 7, three former Radio Bilkent staff members returned to campus to speak to the station’s current staffers. They had been invited to give an informal seminar on their experiences at Radio Bilkent and how that background helped prepare them for the workplace after graduation.
All of the guests shared anecdotes about their time at Radio Bilkent and answered questions from the audience. Besides noting the ways in which taking on the responsibility of operating a radio station can help prepare students for working in the “real world,” the speakers had some amusing stories to recount. There were also a few emotional moments, as when one of the guests declared that “Radio Bilkent was like my family.”
Current staff members expressed their appreciation at having had the opportunity to hear about their predecessors’ experiences, and observed that the seminar was in particular helpful for those who have only recently started their Radio Bilkent “journey.”
