Each semester, a recruitment period takes place at Radio Bilkent during which the station brings new staff on board. This semester, with COVID-19 precautions still in effect, the process of selecting staff members from among the many students who apply is once again being conducted online. Recruitment began on January 31 and will continue through February 13.Staff positions are allocated according to the Radio Bilkent organization chart, which features three main units – Human Resources, Broadcasting, and Public Relations – and eight subunits: Music, News, Content Production and Management, Production, Sales and Marketing, Organization, Design, and Human Resources. Following is a brief description of each subunit’s responsibilities.
Broadcasting Unit
Music: Regulates the daily broadcast stream. Determines the songs to be played. Presents talk shows.
News: On a daily basis, presents current local, national and international news. Prepares and delivers the content of the arts and culture program “Demarkaj.”
Content Production and Management: Responsible for social media accounts. Communicates with guests invited to appear on Radio Bilkent. Writes station-related content for Bilkent News. Writes text for advertisements broadcast by the station.
Production: Responsible for broadcast quality. Produces special programs and broadcasts. Delivers all sound (except music) that is broadcast. Responsible for the production of podcasts.
Public Relations Unit
Design: Responsible for all of Radio Bilkent’s visual promotion materials.
Sales and Marketing: Finds national and local sponsors for radio events and broadcasts. Solicits gifts/prizes for listeners and social media followers. Human Resources Unit
Human Resources: Evaluates applications. Manages the interview and training process and evaluates candidates and trainees.
Organization: Responsible for special events and activities, and for site coordination at Bilkent University and off-campus in Ankara. Contacts artists and DJs.
