Asst. Prof. Serkan Belkaya of the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics has been awarded a European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO) Installation Grant.He is among eight scientists who have been selected to receive the grant this year. The objective of the EMBO Installation Grant program is to support young researchers working in the life sciences and allow them to establish their own research groups in selected European Molecular Biology Conference member states, thus strengthening science in those states. Turkey, Lithuania, Poland and Portugal participated in the 2020 call for proposals.
EMBO Installation Grants are awarded annually. Scientists chosen as grantees receive 50,000 euros each year for three to five years from the funding agencies of their host countries; Dr. Belkaya’s funding will be provided by TÜBİTAK. The grantees are also integrated into the EMBO Young Investigator Program, which provides networking opportunities and a range of career development programs.
