“Türkiye’de Siyaset Bilimine Yön Verenler” (People Who Have Shaped Political Science in Turkey), a new book from Bahçeşehir University Press, is a collection of interviews with 11 doyens in the field of Political Science in Turkey. One of the 11 is Prof. Metin Heper of the Department of Political Science and Public Administration and the İhsan Doğramacı International Advanced Studies Center at Bilkent.
In the 30-page chapter devoted to him, Prof. Heper discusses his education and academic career, along with his thoughts on political science and Turkish politics, and his suggestions for those who wish to become academicians. The book also includes interviews with Nermin Abadan-Unat, Feroz Ahmad, Yeşim Arat, Ersin Kalaycıoğlu, Şerif Mardin, Ergun Özbudun, Sabri Sayarı, İlkay Sunar, Binnaz Toprak and İlter Turan.
