An exhibition of works by Asst. Prof. Ercan Sağlam of the Department of Fine Arts is opening today, October 21, at the Atlas Gallery in downtown Ankara, and will run until December 5.
Exhibited under the title “Stacks,” Asst. Prof. Sağlam’s recent works consist of colorful, multipartite wooden sculptures and accompanying prints. As in his previous series of works, “Cages” and “Fragments,” the artist strives to enrich the possibilities of plastic language in terms of structure, space and rhythm.
Asst. Prof. Sağlam graduated from the Department of Sculpture of the Hacettepe University Faculty of Fine Arts in 2001. He has won awards in national painting and sculpture competitions (1993, 1998 and 2005), as well as the İhsan Doğramacı Achievement Award (1994), the Art Institute Award (1995), the Beca Primavera L’Escala Spain grant (2003) and the Popular Science Award (2007).
