TDP (Toplumsal Duyarlılık Projeleri/Social Awareness Projects) is an umbrella organization active in promoting volunteerism among Bilkent students. At present, over 750 volunteers from TDP’s many projects are trying to eliminate obstacles, support education and, especially, share their love.
Recently, a promotional film was produced in order to expand TDP’s volunteer family and increase its positive impact on society. Those who haven’t yet seen the film can view it on the organization’s website: http://tdp.bilkent.edu.tr/.
Shot during the summer by two directors, the film was completed in only three hours thanks to the participation of 60 highly motivated volunteers. Based on the theme, “Come on, follow the light with us,” it features three people who have received help from TDP projects. The purpose of the film is not only to raise awareness among Bilkenters of the organization and its work but also to inspire more civic involvement and volunteer projects throughout Turkey.
TDP was originally established to help the victims of the 1999 Marmara earthquake and attracted many student volunteers for this purpose. In 2001, TDP started its first long-term effort, the Voluntary Teaching Project. Since then, the organization has increased in both number of volunteers and sphere of activity, becoming one of the country’s largest student clubs dedicated to community service. Today, over 750 volunteers work on 14 different projects serving over 1,000 people, and TDP continues to grow and move forward.
