Kevin Kallaugher, the editorial cartoonist for The Economist magazine, was at Bilkent on October 6th to lead a workshop on politics and satire. The renowned cartoonist, whose work appears under the pen name KAL, shared his experiences of drawing world leaders and satirizing current events. Mr. Kallaugher also discussed the challenges a political cartoonist faces. During the workshop, participants from the COMD and GRA departments drew their own cartoons.
KAL’s work has appeared in more than 100 publications worldwide. He has won many awards, including the 2014 Grand Prix for Cartoon of the Year in Europe, presented by Press Cartoon Europe.
