What do you like best about Turkey?

The overall ambiance and rich history of the country. Many mosques, museums and monuments of soldiers, from famous wars and revolutions, can be found all around the country. It really has a history worthy of safekeeping.

Are there any similarities between Turkey and your home country?

The thing about Turkey is that every city has its own dialect, local food and culture, just like Pakistan. Moreover, the one thing I laugh about is how both nation’s people are able to find the most unconventional and unorthodox methods to solve any given problem.

What will you miss most about Bilkent/Turkey?

I’ll miss the cold weather, the rainy fall and the sunny springtime on the Bilkent hill. But I’ll really miss the flamboyant beaches of western Turkey.

What’s your favorite place on campus, and why?

The football field beside the Beytepe gate – the number of times I’ve enjoyed a rough, tough match there with my friends will be hard to forget.

What’s your favorite Turkish food and/or favorite part of Turkish culture?

My favorite Turkish food is pide; it’s so light but can be filling at the same time. My favorite part of Turkish culture is how there are so many phrases for hospitality and greetings in the Turkish language.

Where do you expect to see yourself 10 years from now?

Hopefully, if all goes well insha’Allah, somewhere in Europe or North America, enjoying the settled life of a software engineer.

What’s the hardest challenge you’ve handled in Turkey?

Being able to live in a foreign country, without knowing the language and people. I’ve had to manage getting to know my way around the places, people and language.

What places have you visited in Turkey, and which one is your favorite?

İzmir is one of the few places I’ve been to, and I absolutely adore it. I really miss the whole coastline to bike around, and having a sunny day to enjoy at the beautiful beaches.

What’s an interesting question or comment you hear frequently about Bilkent/Turkey?

Is it really that hard to study engineering at Bilkent? (Yes, it’s truly stressful.)

Describe yourself in three words.

Jolly, ambitious, truthful.
