What do you like best about Turkey?

The sky. I remember when I first got out of the airport and on my taxi ride to Bilkent, all I looked at was the sky. The clouds looked so beautiful. For the first year I remained obsessed with the sky and took pictures of it every day and sent them back home.

Are there any similarities between Turkey and your home country?

I don’t think so. There might be a few, but both have distinctive features of their own.

What will you miss most about Bilkent/Turkey?

About Bilkent, I’ll miss my friends of course, and hanging out with them on campus. About Turkey, I’ll miss how beautiful this country is. No matter where you go, Turkey doesn’t disappoint you. You find yourself in awe of the beauty every place displays.

What’s your favorite place on campus, and why?

East Campus, because the dorms there were my first home. I found my best friend on East Campus, and walking every single day and exploring the campus was the best part of my day.

What’s your favorite Turkish food and/or favorite part of Turkish culture?

Baklava has to be my favorite Turkish food; I can never have enough of it.

Where do you expect to see yourself 10 years from now?

Somewhere happy and at peace with myself, working at a place where I’m growing and each day brings a new challenge that unfolds the very best parts of me.

What’s the hardest challenge you’ve handled in Turkey?

Learning the language. I still haven’t properly learned it, so having to communicate with someone who doesn’t speak English can be very challenging.

What places have you visited in Turkey, and which one is your favorite?

I’ve visited quite a few, including İstanbul, İzmir, Cappadocia, Pamukkale, Bodrum and Antalya. But Bodrum is my favorite. I love the architecture and the vibe of that city.

What’s an interesting question or comment you hear frequently at Bilkent/in Turkey?

“Bilkent can’t be that hard.”

Describe yourself in three words.

Confident, bold, lively.
