What do you like best about Turkey?

Turks are proud of their culture, which is something I admire.

Are there any similarities between your country’s culture and Turkey’s?

Yes, some. There are many common words, for example. There are also similarities in the food.

What will you miss most about Turkey/Bilkent?

Campus life.

What’s your favorite place on campus, and why?

I have two: first, in front of my department, which is a gathering place, and second, the hillside above my department, because you can view the city from there.

Why Turkey?

I didn’t have any plans, plus my best friend had already come to Turkey.

What’s your favorite Turkish food/favorite part of Turkish culture?

May I choose lokum?

Where do you expect to see yourself 10 years from now?

Working somewhere in Western Europe.

What’s the hardest challenge you’ve overcome in Turkey?

Generally Turks think differently; that’s something I’ve had to deal with a lot.

What cities have you visited in Turkey? Which one do you like the best?

I’ve visited Ankara, Eskişehir, Kayseri, İstanbul and Bursa. The one I liked best was İstanbul, of course.

Do you have any hidden talents?

I’m great in bed—I can sleep for a day.

What’s a question you’re asked frequently, or the most interesting comment you’ve heard at Bilkent/in Turkey?
