Why Turkey?

I wanted to experience studying in another country, because I believe that helps you grow so much as an individual in so many different ways—you get to experience and acquaint yourself with an entirely new culture, language and environment in general. With the amazing architecture programs at Bilkent University, Turkey seemed to be the perfect fit for me.

What do you love best about Turkey?

The people here! They are very accommodating and welcoming, and the nicest people that I have come across!

Are there any similarities between the cultures?

Yes! We share the Bayram (Eid) holidays, and also a lot of Turkish cultural values in various aspects are very similar to ours.

What will you miss most about Turkey/Bilkent?

Almost everything, I guess—all the amazing people that I have come across, and that too in such a short amount of time; the studios, the library, the summers (the weather here is absolutely perfect then) and the cats of Bilkent!

Where do expect to see yourself in 10 years?

Hopefully as a very accomplished interior architect.

Do you have a favorite Turkish word?

Şöyle böyle – it sounds very interesting!

What places have you visited in Turkey? Which one do you like the best?

I have visited İstanbul, Cappadocia, Safranbolu and Amasra. The one that I liked the most would have to be Amasra, because it’s small, beautiful and so rich in culture.

What is one question you are asked frequently or the most interesting comment you’ve heard?

This one person asked me whether Pakistan was a part of India. Hayır!
