What do you like best about Turkey?

I love the mixture of old and new, of which İstanbul is a beautiful example.

Are there any similarities between your culture and Turkey’s?

There are many similarities, which is one of the reasons why I chose to study here. For example, our cultures share a love of good food and treat guests like friends.

What will you miss most about Turkey/Bilkent?

I will miss my friends and the memories I’ve shared with them. I’m already getting really attached to Bilkent, especially during the weekend, when it’s quiet and peaceful, and we have the whole campus to ourselves.

Why Turkey?

The same reasons most Azerbaijanis choose it—similar language, similar culture, and it’s close!

Where do expect to see yourself in 10 years?

I expect to be happily married with a child or two and a job that I will hopefully enjoy.

What is the hardest challenge you’ve overcome in Turkey?

Not having my mom take care of me when I’m sick, not coming back to hot food on the table, and not getting constant love and attention from my parents.

What cities have you visited in Turkey? Which one do you like the best?

I used to live here, so I’ve been all over Turkey. İstanbul, Cappadocia and Pamukkale are all places everyone must visit!

Do you have any hidden talents?

My friends joke that I can sing like a (horrible) opera singer.

What is one question you are asked frequently or the most interesting comment you’ve heard?

I have a twin sister (fraternal), so I’m constantly asked questions like: “Are you actually twins?!” “Who’s older, you or your sister?”
