How often do you exercise?
I exercise three or four times a week.
How has regular exercise affected your life?
Besides getting my mood up, exercising has helped me start the day earlier because the Sport Center’s appointment system motivated me to stick to my daily schedule; so that’s a plus. Also, I feel stronger and healthier. When you exercise regularly, your tendency to pay attention to what you eat increases in a healthy way.
What do you suggest to those who are just taking up a sport or starting to exercise?
It makes more sense to start small than to push yourself too hard. I’ve made this mistake before and been away from sports for a long time. Be aware of what you can do and try to be consistent. Also, there are hundreds of sports – you don’t have to stick to only one choice.
What are the first three things that come to mind when you hear the word “sports”?
Running, energy, competition.
Which Bilkent sports facilities do you use?
I frequently use the sports hall and the squash courts. Less often, I use the tennis courts and the swimming pool, especially in the summer.
Have you taken any courses or participated in any Sports Center activities?
No, I usually prefer to exercise on my own.
