On December 10, as part of its National Day celebrations, the Embassy of Thailand in Ankara organized a special workshop and luncheon at the Le Piment Rouge, the practice restaurant of the Bilkent University Department of Tourism and Hotel Management. Thai Ambassador Phantipha Iamsudha Ekarohit and Minister Counsellor Charkrienorrathip Sevikul attended the event, which involved the participation of two chefs from Thailand who came to Turkey for the National Day celebrations.
The workshop provided students taking the Food Production 1 and 2 courses an opportunity to work with the chefs in the practice kitchen, preparing special Thai dishes they had devised for the occasion.
Following the workshop, the luncheon took place, attended by students, faculty members and other guests. Ambassador Ekarohit received information regarding the education provided at THM from the department’s acting chair, Asst. Prof. Eda Gürel, and praised the hospitality provided by THM chef instructors Elif Denizci and Bülent Karaoğlu and service instructor Ali Ünal.
