The Department of Economics’ Trademaster room, in operation since 2013 when it was donated by İş Yatırım, has been remodeled and opened once again, thanks to a gift from the same institution.
A small reception and ceremony held in the atrium of the FEASS building on October 14 marked the formal reopening of the room. İş Yatırım CEO Rıza Kutlusoy and other representatives of the company were present, as were Vice-Rector Kürşat Aydoğan and FEASS Dean Erinç Yeldan, along with faculty members and students. Preceding the ceremony, Mr. Kutlusoy was the guest lecturer in the ECON321 Financial Institutions and Markets course, where he talked about investment banking in Turkey to a class of very interested students.
At its original inception, the Trademaster room was a computer lab equipped with PCs used to track financial markets and participate in investment competitions. More recently, students have been bringing their own laptops and using the room as a place to study and discuss economic and financial market developments. The remodeling reflects the way it is currently used and was planned in consultation with students who use it. The Trademaster room is now an open, pleasant work space for Economics students interested in financial markets, with ample power outlets and a welcoming layout.
