Ahmet Özer, an instructor in Bilkent’s Turkish Language Unit (Faculty of Humanities and Letters), has attained the impressive total of 33 published works with his latest two books: “Sulusepken” and “Sözün Nakışı.” Published by Kıyı Dergisi Yayınları, the two new volumes comprise Mr. Özer’s essays, newspaper articles and critiques on art, literature and society.
Mr. Özer was born in Maçka, Trabzon, in 1946. He began teaching after receiving his degree from the Department of Turkish Language and Literature at Anadolu University. In 1996 he joined the faculty of Bilkent University, where, in addition to teaching, he also worked as the art editor of 4 Mevsim (1997-2001), a literary journal published for a time by Bilkent.
Mr. Özer has received numerous awards for his literary work, mainly for his poetry. His first poem was published in 1966. He has been the art editor of the Trabzon-based literary magazine Kıyı for nearly 30 years.
